If you’ve ever played a game of pinochle, bridge or poker, chances are you have used a deck of Bicycle playing cards.
In January of 1867, the Russell, Morgan & Co., a printing business whose primary business was the printing of theatrical posters, placards and other traditional items spawned an offshoot company: the United States Playing Card Company.
For more than 125 years, the United States Playing Card Company has produced bicycle cards for everyone from the lone solitaire player to the professional poker players in the World Series of Poker. The company produces a variety of products including pinochle cards, bridge cards and even cards for those with vision issues.
In keeping with the current trend to be respectful of the environment, bicycle playing cards even come in a green eco-friendly card deck, the Eco Edition card deck. This deck is made using sustainable forest papers and vegetable based inks, making the product completely recyclable.
